About Viva SGV!
Viva SGV! is the first open streets event in the East San Gabriel Valley. Viva SGV! temporarily removes cars from city streets and transforms the streets into safe and fun spaces to be enjoyed by families from El Monte and South El Monte and throughout the region. We invite people of all ages and abilities to come out for a bike ride, a jog, a stroll or just to have fun! Viva SGV! is free – just bring your smiles!
Viva SGV! will begin at 10:00am and conclude at 3:00pm on June 12, 2016. No motorized vehicles or on street parking will be allowed on Tyler Ave. in El Monte between 7:00am and 5:00pm. We will have several intersections available for cars and buses to cross the route that will be monitored by a traffic management team (see map).
How Can Your Business Benefit?
Open Streets events let people slow down and see the city around them. They provide great opportunities for businesses to bring in customers that day or to encourage people to return in the near future.
Here are some tips for businesses to take advantage of the great marketing opportunity:
Bring Attention to Your Business
Create special signs, put up balloons, offer specials for Viva SGV! participants.
Let Your Business Experience the Action of Viva SGV!
Put some tables and chairs outside your business, sell products on the sidewalk, play some music or let a DJ set up, give away prizes to people riding or walking by. See this page for city rules for sidewalk business permissions and permits.
Let People Know Viva SGV! is Happening
Email [email protected] for a poster and signs you can place on your door, window or counter to let people know about the event and to let them know about parking options that are off the route on the day of Viva SGV!
